Army surprised by Hegseth’s public execution order
Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth announced that the execution of convicted Fort Hood shooter Nidal Hasan would be livestreamed, a decision that surprised many within the Pentagon and Army. The plan involves broadcasting the firing squad execution live, raising concerns about the psychological impact on soldiers and questions over transparency and participation. The move has drawn bipartisan criticism and ongoing uncertainty about the final procedures and platform for the livestream.
