Rahm Emanuel criticizes DSA's impact on Democrats
Rahm Emanuel, a former White House chief of staff and Chicago mayor, stated that Democratic socialists like New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani have limited influence within the Democratic Party, which he considers predominantly pragmatic. He emphasized that the party does not support radical positions such as defunding the police or open borders, contrasting the socialists’ views with mainstream Democratic stances. Emanuel also highlighted the ongoing debate between progressive and moderate factions, asserting that the party remains centered around pragmatism and warning against radicalization that could harm electoral prospects.
