Fish market prices rise again
An article addressed the rise in fish and shrimp prices in the Bahraini market. It noted that fish prices have experienced limited declines despite a decrease in supply, leading consumers to favor imported products that offer larger sizes and more affordable prices. For example, the price of a kilogram of Bahraini pure fish is around 6 dinars, while imported shrimp ranges between 3 and 3.5 dinars per kilo, making it a preferred alternative for some. The ban on using the "Kraf" fishing method, which has a negative impact on marine resources, results in reduced local catch quantities. This has sparked a discussion about regulating fishing methods to strike a balance between environmental protection and supporting fishermen, amid ongoing anticipation of price stabilization and improved supply in the markets.
