France suspends protests after violence Macron blames far-left
France is facing an escalating political and security crisis following widespread clashes and looting that erupted on October 17, in protest against the high cost of living. In response, President Emmanuel Macron announced a curfew in Paris and other cities, along with restrictions on demonstrations, especially unauthorized ones, in an effort to restore stability and curb violence. Forecasts indicate that security measures will intensify, with the number of deployed forces increasing by 20%. Meanwhile, the situation remains tense, with ongoing arrests of suspects and a divided responsibility between the government and opposition. Protests have also escalated led by unions and students, alongside closures of museums and art galleries, and efforts to confront acts of violence and vandalism.
