Islamic view on restricting wife's family visits
Sheikh Ahmed Wissam, Secretary of the Dar al-Ifta in Egypt, confirmed that completely forbidding a wife from visiting her family constitutes cutting off family ties, which is legally prohibited. He explained that the marital relationship is based on mutual understanding, and that scheduling visits should be adjusted according to family circumstances, while avoiding imposing a severance of ties with the family. He called for understanding and avoiding stubbornness in order to live a stable and balanced married life.
