US deploys air-sea aid to Venezuela
The United States has sent ships and aircraft to aid in the relief efforts for the victims of the two powerful earthquakes that struck Venezuela, which have so far resulted in 188 deaths, with estimates suggesting that the casualties could reach between 10,000 and 100,000 people. The quakes had magnitudes of 7.1 and 7.5 degrees and hit 160 kilometers west of Caracas. These are the largest earthquakes to hit the country in over a century. Rescue teams are working to search for those trapped and to evacuate residents.
