Retirement Union Seeks Higher Increase
President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has decided to increase pensions by 15%. Initially, the proposals from the executive authorities were lower than that. The decision is based on Law No. 71 of 1964, which grants him the authority to approve exceptional bonuses. This move comes amid calls for a special grant and significant disparities in the amount of the increase among recipients, with some groups benefiting from an increase of up to 2,500 Egyptian pounds, while others, particularly the most needy pensioners, see an increase of no more than 300 pounds.
