Healthcare adopts wireless pacemakers
The General Authority for Healthcare announced the successful achievement of a medical team at Ismailia Medical Complex in performing the first wireless pacemaker implantation within the facility. The device is distinguished by its small size and is implanted via a catheter into the right ventricle without the need for surgery or external wires, which reduces complications associated with traditional devices. Its cost was approximately 750,000 Egyptian pounds, with the universal comprehensive health insurance system covering only 482 pounds, showcasing the system’s ability to provide expensive modern technologies to citizens. This achievement aims to localize advanced medical technologies and enhance interventional cardiology services, in line with state directives to meet global standards and improve the quality of healthcare provided.
