The Cairo Criminal Court sentenced the defendant, widely known in the media as "The Bride of Al-Marj," to five years of hard imprisonment after she murdered her husband approximately 150 days after their marriage. The incident dates back to a heated verbal altercation between the defendant—who was three months pregnant—and her husband, due to her not preparing food. The argument escalated into a fight during which the defendant stabbed her husband twice with a kitchen knife, resulting in his death. The defendant confirmed that she did not intend to kill him and stated that she was exhausted during the altercation. She also attempted to assist him after the stabbing. The medical report indicated that the cause of death was a penetrating stab wound to the chest, which led to severe bleeding and hypovolemic shock.
