The National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority has implemented urgent regulatory measures to tighten the controls for registering mobile lines, aiming to ensure the true identity of the actual owner of each line and prevent the registration of lines without the knowledge of their owners. These measures include halting the sale and activation of new lines for institutions and entities, sending messages to existing users to sign a new contract in the name of the actual owner within a specified period, and canceling lines whose data has not been updated. Additionally, companies have been instructed to swiftly implement biometric verification methods to enhance the security of registration procedures. Strict legal and administrative actions will also be taken against violators, including halting sales and referring violations to the prosecutor’s office. These measures are designed to protect citizens’ rights and ensure the safety of their personal data.
