The National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority has issued a decision requiring the four mobile operators to notify owners of old lines via SMS to visit their branches and update their contracts with the actual owner’s name within a specified deadline; otherwise, the line will be permanently deactivated. The authority also directed accelerated efforts to provide biometric verification methods through electronic applications to ensure the security of user identities. These measures come after mobile companies were referred to the Public Prosecution for investigation into violations related to registering lines in users' names without their knowledge, aiming to enhance the registration process and protect users' rights and data.
