Dr. Mohamed El-Aqqad, Chairman of the Medical Councils Authority, revealed that the new treatment request system issues between 12,000 and 17,000 treatment decisions daily, based on receiving approximately 20,000 requests each day, with strict standards for quality and governance. The plan focuses on reducing travel hardships and delays for patients from governorates, in addition to developing a comprehensive guideline that includes precise procedures and providing internal and external reviews of decisions to ensure accuracy. The validity of a treatment decision is set at three months, and decisions are implemented immediately in emergency cases, alongside strict follow-up procedures for medical institutions. He also explained that there are mechanisms in place to monitor cases of rejection or discrepancies, and patients have the right to appeal through hospitals or via video conferencing. Moreover, multiple methods are available for patients to inquire about the status of their treatment decision, including SMS messages, a hotline, and a mobile application using facial recognition technology to prevent tampering.
