Saturday marks the start of metro bus station phase two
The Egyptian Company for Operating the Shuttle Bus announced the commencement of the second phase of the shuttle bus project starting tomorrow, Saturday, September 26. This comes in line with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's directives to complete mass transit projects and expand the use of modern and environmentally friendly transportation modes. The second phase includes 14 new stations, 11 of which will serve passengers starting tomorrow, covering areas such as Maadi, Mokattam, Algiers, Zahraa, Bahrain El Azam, Omaraniya, Talbiyah, Marioutiya, and Son City. Additionally, three more stations—Zahraa El Maadi, Autostrad, and Mansouriya—are set to be activated in the coming days. Ticket prices start at 5 EGP and go up to 35 EGP for travel across 30 stations, with the total number of stations increasing to 30 once the second phase is fully operational. It is worth noting that the Rapid Bus Transit (BRT) is considered an alternative to Line 5 of the metro, aiming to provide a modern, accessible transportation option in line with Cairo's urban transport development plan. The stations will feature parking, waiting areas, and commercial zones along the route to enhance services for citizens and network users.
