Yemen's Dera Al-Watan controls Jabal Habashi peak
The "Dawn of the Homeland" forces allied with the Yemeni government announced control over the highest peak of Jabal Habbshi in Taiz Governorate, as part of Operation "Yemen Dawn." This military escalation began in July 2026 to retake areas controlled by the Houthis. So far, there has been no response from the Houthis regarding this announcement. This comes within the context of a military campaign aimed at liberating the governorates of Taiz and Sana'a, following an increase in fighting intensity in September 2026, during which the Houthis seized strategic areas such as Mokha and Mều Island, as part of the Yemeni government's efforts to safeguard its interests in the ongoing conflict that has persisted since 2014.
