Israeli Ambassador Michael Lotem presented his credentials to the president of Somaliland, and the foundation stone was laid for an Israeli embassy in Hargeisa, following Israel’s recognition of the region in December 2025. No date was given for the embassy’s opening. The move comes despite opposition from the Somali government, which considers Somaliland part of its territory.
