Al Ahly coach Hussein Ammouta said he had hoped for a bigger win than 1–0 over Arab Contractors, noting that the team had struggled since the start of the season to turn chances into goals. He explained that Imam Ashour was not yet 100% fit but would be available in the coming period. Ashraf Bencharki scored the winner in the 93rd minute after the coaching staff had opted to rest him at the start. Al Ahly top Group C with six points, and Ammouta is aiming to compete for the Egypt Capital Cup title while giving young players a chance to feature.
