The Iranian army said Saturday that it is now stronger than it was when the war with the United States and Israel began, citing its experience in direct confrontation and affirming that its forces are on the highest alert. Spokesman Mohammad Akrami Nia said Iran’s response would be immediate and effective, with no geographical limits. He added that the armed forces control the Strait of Hormuz and will not reopen it until the United States accepts Tehran’s conditions. Around one-fifth of the world’s oil consumption passes through the strait.
