Starmer urges Burnham to avoid borrowing for defence amid £15bn plan
Keir Starmer unveiled a £15 billion increase in defense spending over four years, funded by reallocating budgets from energy, transport, and housing projects. The plan aims to address underfunding and delays in military programs, including nuclear submarines and fighter aircraft, while emphasizing the importance of defense amid rising global threats. Starmer warned against borrowing more, reinforcing the need for careful fiscal management, and urged his successor to prioritize defense in future budgets.
