Parents recount Send school closure amid abuse claims
Parents of a child with severe autism and behavioral challenges describe having to send their son to a private residential school after concerns grew over declining care standards and allegations of abuse. The school, run by the Aurora Group, was closed following serious child cruelty allegations, leading to a police investigation that concluded without criminal charges. The parents are now advocating for stricter laws to hold private Send providers accountable and for more state-run options, amid ongoing concerns about profit-driven care and inadequate oversight in the sector.
