Security detains cyber attacker in Nineveh outage
The Iraqi National Security Agency announced that they have arrested the perpetrator of a cyber attack in Nineveh, which caused an internet service disruption for approximately 6,000 users. The statement clarified that the attack was aimed at an internet service company to incite chaos and extort users, but prompt response and technical measures contributed to thwarting the plot before it achieved its objectives. After obtaining a judicial order, security forces carried out an operation resulting in the arrest of the suspect and his referral to the judiciary, with investigations confirming his responsibility for the cyber attack and its intended purpose.
