Diyala River rescue after two months
A young man's body was recovered after drowning in the Diyala River near Kurnabat Bridge in northeastern Baquba. This is the first such incident recorded in the area in over two months. The police confirmed that the body has been identified and transferred to the forensic department to complete the necessary procedures. Meanwhile, warnings continue to advise against swimming in rivers with strong currents to prevent similar accidents. Since the beginning of 2026, Diyala has recorded around 30 drowning cases across different areas, highlighting the need to enhance awareness and adhere to safety guidelines, especially during the summer season.
