Iraq Solar Demand Surges 300 Percent
Now completed. Here is the news summary according to the specified guidelines: In 2026, Iraq experienced a significant surge in the use of solar energy systems, with sales increasing by up to 300% compared to the previous year, paving the way for a "Golden Year" for this sector. This development occurred amid the Electricity Ministry's failure to improve the electricity supply, which has resulted in long outages of up to six hours daily. As a result, many citizens have turned to solar energy as an effective alternative solution. Experts confirm that Iraq has ideal conditions for harnessing solar energy, thanks to more than 300 sunny days per year, and that reducing taxes and customs duties on solar panel systems would facilitate their adoption and lower costs, thereby contributing to resolving the persistent electricity crisis.
