Cholera Outbreak Causes 13 Deaths
The Ministry of Health in Chad confirmed that the cholera outbreak has resulted in 13 deaths and approximately 239 cases since the declaration of its spread on July 24, with a fatality rate of 5.4%. The majority of the cases are concentrated in the Khawr Lamis province and the capital, N'djamena, where 11 deaths were recorded in N'djamena during August. The ministry has launched a vaccination campaign targeting over 50,000 people to combat the outbreak, even though the fatalities began over a month earlier, on June 13. This situation coincides with the spread of cholera in other African countries such as the Central African Republic, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Nigeria.
