Communications Authority to launch first satellite ground station
The Iraqi Ministry of Communications announced that Baghdad will witness the launch of Iraq's first ground station (Teleport) next Sunday to handle satellites, aimed at strengthening the country's digital and space sovereignty. The station is designed to manage geostationary satellites (GEO) and is fundamentally intended to secure national data traffic and develop the telecommunications sector. The Minister called on all government, security, and private sector institutions to adopt it as an alternative to international infrastructure. This step is a prelude to future phases of the national space sovereignty project.
