AFC suggests postponing 2027 Asia Cup to 2028
Asian football is considering the option of postponing the hosting of the 2027 Asian Cup, originally scheduled to be held in Saudi Arabia, to 2028. This decision depends on security developments in the region. The President of the Asian Football Confederation, Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim, stated that the final decision will rely on the security situation and that the situation will be monitored until the end of next November. This possibility arises amidst security concerns and events that have impacted both domestic and international matches in Saudi Arabia, including delays in games and warnings issued by international sports authorities to ensure the safety of teams and delegations participating.
