42 Iraqi universities in QS Arab rankings
The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research confirmed that 42 Iraqi universities, including universities from the Kurdistan Region, have been included in the QS Arab Universities Ranking for 2027, an increase from 36 universities last year. The University of Baghdad tops the ranking among Iraqi universities. The ranking is based on ten main indicators, including academic reputation (30%), employer reputation (20%), the number of PhD-holding academics, scientific publication output, and citation impact. This increase in representation highlights an improvement in the research performance and ranking of Iraqi universities at the regional level.
