Ancient Roman sarcophagus found
A well-preserved Roman coffin dating back to the late Roman era was discovered during excavations in the Croatian city of Cvatta, in an ancient cemetery of the Epidauros settlement. The coffin, of the Salonitan style, had remained sealed since its burial and weighs about five tons. Old plaster remnants were found between its lid and the stone box. Inside, human remains and other materials were uncovered, which will be sent for laboratory analysis to better understand burial customs and life during that period.
