Oil falls amid US-Iran tensions
Oil prices have dropped significantly, falling by more than a dollar per barrel amid hopes of reaching a diplomatic solution to the crisis between the United States and Iran, following a temporary pause in military operations between the two countries. The price of Brent crude fell to its lowest level since July 20, at $86.89, while West Texas Intermediate US crude dropped to $81.16. This comes as the United States announces positive talks with Iran and the possibility of resuming strikes if negotiations fail. Meanwhile, reports warn of the risks of escalating the conflict in the Gulf and Red Sea, and the deterioration of security conditions in the region.
