Almaya Funds Samra Station Expansion
The Jordanian Minister of Water and Irrigation, Engineer Raid Abu Suoud, signed an additional expansion agreement for the Smeaara Wastewater Treatment Plant, valued at $28 million, with support from the U.S. government. The aim is to enhance the plant's capacities and increase its processing ability to cope with the rising flows of sewage from the Amman-Zarqa basin. The project seeks to improve operational efficiency and ensure the availability of safe treated water, thereby strengthening water security in Jordan and contributing to increased use of treated wastewater.
