U.S. Conducts Major Strikes on Iran
The U.S. military announced the completion of an "intensive wave" of strikes against Iran, in response to attempted missile attacks targeting American forces inside Iran. These strikes included hundreds of sites affiliated with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and aimed to reduce threats to U.S. personnel, shipping routes, and Gulf countries. Amidst this escalation, hostilities between the United States and Iran have continued, with an increase in fighting within Iraq and the region. American and Saudi forces launched strikes on Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces (Hashd al-Shabi) bases loyal to Iran, resulting in the deaths of around 20 militiamen and injuring 32 others. The escalation has been met with Iraqi rejection and international condemnation, reflecting the widening of the conflict in the Middle East.
