US Report: Palestinians Face Surveillance Testing
A U.S. report revealed that the Israeli occupation used Palestinians as a testing ground to develop military surveillance and artificial intelligence technologies, before exporting them to security and police agencies in the United States and other countries. The report stated that Unit 8200 of the Israeli military developed systems based on collecting personal data through facial recognition and digital activity analysis, to be used for near-automated targeting during the offensive on Gaza. This widespread use of these tools was implemented in the Palestinian territory before being adopted by security institutions in the United States, with warnings that expanding reliance on artificial intelligence could lead to errors and human rights violations, raising concerns about privacy and civil liberties in the future.
