A hearing was held in the South Korean Parliament for former South Korea national team coach Hong Myung-bo, who admitted full responsibility for the team's failure at the 2026 World Cup. The team was eliminated in the group stage after losing 0-1 to South Africa. The coach faced fierce criticism for his decision to keep Son Heung-min on the bench, along with allegations of preferential treatment and an alleged increase in his salary to $2.6 million, though this figure has not been confirmed. He explained that he takes responsibility for the unsatisfactory performance, describing the team's performance as a "golden generation" disappointed and filled with false hope for the Korean national team.
