The Peace and Security Council of the African Union has stated that it rejects external intervention in Sudan's internal affairs and affirms the importance of respecting Sudan’s sovereignty and unity. It emphasizes that resolving the conflict must be achieved through dialogue, national reconciliation, and comprehensive political settlement. The Council also highlighted the significance of the government resuming its duties and supporting efforts to strengthen the transitional process and hold free and fair elections. These remarks come in the context of a visit by a delegation from the Peace and Security Council to Sudan, during which efforts for peace and restoring Sudan’s role in Africa were discussed. This is amid the ongoing war between the army and the Rapid Support Forces since April 2023, which has resulted in the deaths of tens of thousands and the displacement of approximately 13 million people.
