The Egyptian security apparatus detained a Jordanian young man and an Egyptian girl after images of them surfaced in the Pyramids area and the Sphinx, which included obscene gestures and acts that offended public morals. Investigations revealed that the Jordanian individual and the Egyptian girl took the pictures in front of the archaeological landmarks, which caused public outrage; they have been referred for further inquiry. The judicial authorities decided to release them on bail, while taking measures regarding the foreigner’s deportation, as investigations continue to determine legal responsibility.
