Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Local Administration Walid Al-Masri stated that there is no intention to employ specialized companies to collect fees and funds owed to municipalities. He explained that the Local Administration Law permits contractors or obligated parties to collect revenues from projects managed by the municipalities and to transfer them accordingly. He confirmed that, at present, municipalities do not directly collect certain funds, such as traffic violations, waste fees, and revenues from central markets, which could be collected by contractors on behalf of the municipality.
