200,000 Passengers Since Flight Resume at Amman Airport
Amman Airport has once again experienced a revival in passenger traffic following the resumption of its flights since the beginning of the year. It has transported over 200,000 travelers through more than 1,650 commercial flights operated by 8 diverse airlines, with the aim of strengthening Jordan’s position as a regional air transportation hub. Officials confirmed that operating the airport contributes to the development of the transportation system and boosts tourism and the national economy by facilitating flights between Amman, the Gulf countries, and Europe—especially through low-cost carriers. They also indicated that the airport provides flexible travel options at affordable costs, with plans to expand destinations and improve infrastructure, targeting 2 million passengers in the second phase of development. The presence of a second airport within the Jordanian airport system is also a crucial factor in enhancing operational flexibility and ensuring service continuity amid challenging regional circumstances.
