Iranian agency Tasnim reported that the Strait of Hormuz will not be reopened according to the understanding between Iran and Oman. The two countries agreed on new routes for ships to enter and exit the strait, including a route located entirely within Iranian territorial waters. Despite the United States’ insistence on reopening the strait, this depends on Washington implementing Tehran’s conditions. Iraq is expected to attend the Oman meeting on Monday to inform Gulf nations of the negotiation outcomes. Meanwhile, the U.S. has requested oil carriers to transit during specific timeframes to ensure military protection, amid escalating nighttime attacks by Iran on ships.
