The recent study highlights the connection between pupil response and levels of attention and mental effort in children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). The findings showed that untreated children with the disorder exhibited a 23% greater variability in pupil response between trials compared to children without the condition. Additionally, changes in pupil response were associated with decreased memory accuracy, suggesting that pupil measurements could serve as a research indicator for a more precise understanding of the disorder. However, the study emphasizes that, at present, the pupil cannot be relied upon as an independent diagnostic tool for ADHD. It calls for further research to confirm the diagnostic value of these indicators.
