The study's results indicate that one-third of school students in Jordan, aged between 13 and 17 years, are affected by overweight or obesity. Specifically, the percentage of those suffering from obesity is 12.1%, while 20.8% are classified as overweight only. The study also revealed a decline in physical activity levels, with only 12% of students engaging in more than 60 minutes of activity daily, and 31.5% participating in physical education classes. In response to these findings, the Ministry of Health has implemented measures including improving the nutritional environment within schools, banning the sale of soft drinks and chips, increasing oversight of school canteens, and promoting physical activity by revitalizing physical education classes and organizing sports activities to encourage students to move. The goal is to reduce risk factors associated with obesity and to enhance students' health in the long term.
