A report from Axios indicates that Saudi Arabia has made modifications to the Iranian-Omani proposal concerning the Strait of Hormuz, due to fears of establishing a new status quo in the strait that would be unacceptable to Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. Additionally, the Omani Foreign Minister announced the postponement of a Gulf-Iranian meeting that was scheduled to be held in Oman, aimed at creating conditions for dialogue to enhance the security and stability of the region. This decision came after protests from Saudi Arabia regarding the proposed wording, which they believe could lead to unacceptable changes. This development occurs amidst escalating tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, with oil prices rising following attacks targeting Saudi pipelines and other incidents threatening global oil supplies.
