Education Department's winter school hours exemption
The article addressed the decision by the Jordanian Ministry of Education to maintain school operating hours during the winter season on the same schedule used in the summer. This comes after the ministry previously adjusted school start times later in the winter. A source within the ministry clarified that the school community informed them there was no need to make any changes to the timetable, leading to the continuation of the morning assembly at 7:45 AM and the first lesson starting at 8:00 AM, with lesson durations remaining at 45 minutes. This decision follows the abolition of winter time (standard time) since 2022 and the adoption of daylight saving time throughout the year, aiming to maximize daylight hours and reduce energy consumption. Typically, such adjustments had been made on the last Friday of October.
