Gaza prepares for storm
Displacement camps in the Gaza Strip are preparing for the first wave of rain, expected on Friday, by buying tarpaulins, plastic sheeting and supports, and reinforcing their tents. The United Nations Development Programme has distributed sand to help secure the tents and keep water from seeping in. Displaced people warned that their tents could flood and called for winter shelter supplies to be brought in before the cold and rain intensify. The Ministry of Social Development says the Strip urgently needs 200,000 weather-resistant tents and 300,000 shelter kits to protect more than 300,000 families at risk.
