Al-Bustanji regards Aoun's Washington visit as a constructive step
The head of the Parliament's Economy Committee, MP Fares Al-Boustani, stated that President Joseph Aoun's visit to the United States represented a "positive breakthrough" and provided an opportunity for an upcoming visit to Saudi Arabia, which is expected to support the economy. He emphasized the importance of passing the Financial Regulation Law before restructuring the banks to ensure the recovery of depositors' funds. He called for unifying the exchange rate and increasing withdrawal limits to improve purchasing power. He explained that liquidating part of the gold reserve could be a way to return funds, considering that restoring confidence in the financial and economic systems will only happen after deposits are reimbursed. He also warned of the deteriorating economic situation and the massive joining of the middle class into poverty.
