Israel-Lebanon Dispute Over Security Operations
Tensions between Lebanon and Israel have increased regarding freedom of security operations in the border area, with Israel emphasizing the need to retain the option to re-enter the region to ensure the absence of Hezbollah’s infrastructure. Israel also demands that it not withdraw from the security zones in southern Lebanon unless its military freedom of movement is preserved. On the Lebanese side, the focus remains on the ongoing Israeli attacks on southern villages and the necessity to put an end to these hostile practices, amid upcoming discussions in Rome concerning border demarcation and security arrangements.
