British-Iranian held at Fairford base
The British Counter-Terrorism Police announced the arrest of a man of British and Iranian nationality on suspicion of planning terrorist activities near RAF Fairford, an airbase used by American forces in Gloucestershire, southwest England. Investigations began after a report was received about three suspicious vehicles heading toward the base. Five British men have been detained on charges related to explosives and terrorist activity. Investigations are ongoing, and while no explosives have been found inside the vehicles so far, a quantity of petrol has been seized. These events come amid security concerns over potential Iranian involvement, which Iran has denied. The authorities are investigating possible links to individuals working for a foreign entity, and tensions remain high regarding military activities and US and British military installations connected to Iran in the region.
