Hezbollah manages supporter dissatisfaction over rent aid
Hezbollah has called for a financial contribution to aid those affected by its recent war in southern Lebanon, after hundreds of homes were destroyed and thousands of families need restoration and housing. Secretary-General Naim Qassem announced an intention to provide partial support, emphasizing that the assistance would not cover the full costs of rent, which has disappointed displaced families awaiting the fulfillment of previous promises. The party is facing a financial crisis due to the imposed sanctions, and according to reports, the funds allocated so far have only supported a few hundred families on a monthly basis, with ongoing uncertainty surrounding the size and stages of the funding. This comes at a time when the party is striving to enhance its image as an entity capable of bearing responsibility, particularly amid internal dissatisfaction within its base and growing calls for the state to take primary responsibility for reconstruction and support for the displaced.
