Warning on Carcinogenic Children’s Toy Sold on Shein
British authorities have issued a warning about a children's toy sold on the "Shein" platform after discovering that it contains asbestos-contaminated sand, a carcinogenic substance. They advised consumers to stop using the toy and to dispose of it safely. The company has recalled the toy and issued a full refund. The contaminated material is found inside the sand packaged in wooden cubes. The danger arises from the release of asbestos fibers when the material is broken or rubbed, which can lead to serious illnesses such as lung cancer and mesothelioma. In the UK, approximately 5,000 deaths each year are caused by asbestos-related diseases.
