Hani: Updading plan to export 100,000 tons of apples
The article focused on the Lebanese Ministry of Agriculture's plan to boost apple exports during the 2026 season, including reducing shipping costs and opening new markets. The ministry has collaborated with CMA CGM to lower freight charges, especially to Egypt, Libya, and Saudi Arabia, in order to enhance the competitiveness of Lebanese apples. The plan also involves invigorating the local market, improving the quality of production, and activating economic diplomacy and agricultural tourism, with the goal of exporting at least 100,000 tons of apples and increasing domestic demand, while protecting the local producers by halting apple imports. Additionally, the initiative includes organizing events and promotional campaigns to stimulate the consumption of national apples and support farmers.
