Vatican's careful attention to Belenan
A diplomatic source revealed that the Holy See in Vatican City is showing keen interest in Lebanon, with particular focus on the meeting between Ambassador Simon Khoury and Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin, which lasted over an hour. The source also emphasizes that the Pope’s stature provides him with substantial influence over Washington's decisions. The diplomat underscores the importance for Lebanon to leverage this diplomatic support to strengthen its position in negotiations, rather than getting distracted by peripheral political conflicts—especially as sovereign and security challenges in the country continue to escalate.
