Alterations in Iraqi militia tactics
The article discusses the changing tactics of armed militias in Iraq, as they have begun to employ new strategies that go beyond targeting economic infrastructure. They now take advantage of the vast spaces across the country and conceal their true connections behind new names to hide their links to the major factions supported by Iran. Additionally, there has been a shift toward smaller, more extremist groups that operate independently of the political class, demonstrating significant boldness in making decisions outside the realm of political calculations. This allows Iran to carry out retaliatory operations more easily without directly tying them to the major factions. This development occurs within the broader context of the militias' efforts to circumvent the state's plans to monopolize weapons, especially following the withdrawal of American forces from Iraq.
